Distance Learning Adjunct Graduate Faculty Masters in Accountancy
In anticipation of developing a Master’s in Accountancy program, the Graduate & Professional Studies Division of Saint Joseph’s College of Maine is seeking experienced accounting professionals to serve as adjunct faculty in our distance learning program.
The successful candidates will have at least a CPA and/or Masters degree (Ph.D. preferred) in Accounting from an accredited institution with ten years of relevant experience in the accounting profession and demonstrated mastery of their subject areas. Experience working with adult learners, a familiarity with the use of technology in teaching, and strong written and oral communication skills are required. Experience with Socratic discussion and on-line teaching preferred.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. CPA and/or Masters degree in Accounting from an accredited institution
2. Ten years of relevant experience in the accounting profession
3. Demonstrated mastery of relevant subject areas
4. Demonstrated understanding of the interdisciplinary nature of the relevant subject areas
5. Keen interest in helping people through teaching
6. Good organizational skills
7. Good written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Ph.D. in Accounting or its equivalent
2. Experience as a practitioner in public accounting
3. Interdisciplinary base of knowledge
4. Experience teaching adults
5. Experience with the Socratic and facilitative approaches to teaching
6. Competence in providing constructive feedback
7. Excellent written and oral communication skills
8. Excellent organizational skills

1. Effectively interrelate their subject area with other relevant disciplines and to real-life experience
2. Develop and execute instructional plan for maximum learning
3. Maintain accurate records of instructional effectiveness
4. Develop productive relationship with students and colleagues
5. Constructively evaluate students’ assignments and expeditiously provide feedback
6. Maintain accurate records of student progress
7. Timely respond to requests for information and/or action
8. Collaborate in developing, maintaining, improving and innovating courses and their content
9. Employ appropriate instructional strategies in support of learning outcomes
10. Remain current in subject area
